About Us
Mission Statement: The Kitty Cottage Sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing, reconditioning, and responsibly nurturing under-socialized cats. We strive to secure a forever home through suitable adoption placement.
Why We Exist: under socialized cats are often deemed unadoptable to shelters and rescues groups. These shy cats are not given the correct circumstances to thrive, which leads to a lack of placement. The kitty cottage sanctuary is focused on providing the correct environment and the appropriate amount of time to these cats. We believe that these undersocialized cars can become the perfect addition to loving families across Minnesota.
Our Cats
The Kitty Cottage Sanctuary focuses on fearful/shy cats and kittens. The ones that get passed over for adoption at shelters or deemed not social enough by rescues. We give them the time to feel safe and to develop trust. Our cats are special and we are looking for special adopters.
Our cats that are available for adoption have been successfully socialized and ready for a home and people of their own. The ones that are “available soon” are still learning to trust. They are on their way to being socialized and will be ready for their forever home soon. We do have other cats that are not pictured who are at the beginning of their journey to socialization. Our History
The founder of The Kitty Cottage Sanctuary, Maria Megas, got her start in animal rescue in 2017 by volunteering with local rescue. She has done adoptions, owner surrenders, and fostering. While volunteering, she noticed a lack in placement for shy/under-socialized cats who are often deemed unadoptable. She has fostered several shy/under-socialized cats and, with time, they’ve all been adopted and become loved members of families. She decided to create the Kitty Cottage to give shy cats a second chance at a life inside.
